Can I get $500 cash for my junk car?

Our partner records include the $515 Impala offer above, but that does not set a minimum for another vehicle. Request a quote using your own car’s details. If an advertisement promises a $500 minimum, ask which vehicles qualify, whether pickup is included and what could change the amount.

What about $1,000 or $1,500 for a junk car?

The recorded Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen offers show why an individual assessment matters. Do not use the model name or those examples alone to estimate your payout. Tell the buyer whether your vehicle starts, rolls and steers, describe damage and missing major parts, and provide the pickup location. Ask for the offer and its conditions in writing.

How do I compare junk car offers?

Compare the amount you will actually receive, whether towing is included, how payment is made and what could cause the offer to change at pickup. Give each buyer the same vehicle information so you can compare equivalent quotes.

Can you sell a junk car without a title?

Start by identifying why the title is unavailable. A lost title, a title held by a lender and a vehicle titled in someone else’s name are different situations. Do not assume the same paperwork works for all three.

Before arranging pickup, tell the buyer the vehicle’s state, model year, ownership situation and which documents you have. Confirm the ownership requirements with the relevant state motor vehicle agency and ask the buyer whether it can accept the vehicle with those documents. A replacement title may be the appropriate next step when the original is lost.

Do not assume registration alone will be accepted. Have your registration information available when asking, but confirm the required ownership paperwork with the state motor vehicle agency and the buyer before scheduling pickup.
